The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Akwa Ibom State recently took a significant step towards promoting justice and human rights by convening a stakeholders' meeting and strategic planning session. This event was part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and other human rights abuses. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss and plan strategic actions that promote the interests of the Bar and the people of Akwa Ibom State. The session focused on addressing critical issues such as gender-based violence, human rights abuses, and other challenges affecting the state. As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Uyo Branch Human Rights Committee, led by Vice Chairman and Chairman Human Rights Committee, Angela Mick-Akpabio, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State Command. The visit highlighted the importance of synergy between the legal community and stakeholders in the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria. The discussion emphasized the need to protect the rights of all individuals, particularly vulnerable populations, and promote a culture of respect and equality. This courtesy visit demonstrates the NBA's commitment to promoting human rights and the rule of law in Akwa Ibom State.
